Seperated by a fate unintended
Ventured home with events unexpected
The broken door, the screams from where we once rested
I grabbed my rifle from above the mantle
Charging up the stairs, my prayers went unanswered
When I entered the room, you were screaming in the corner
A dark loathsome beast hovered over you
I brought the rifle to my eye without a thought
I took aim at its heart and shot
The rifle made me deaf and for an instant everything was frozen
Then the beast turned on me,
Saw the rifle and jumped out the window
The loathsome creature was only injured
I ran to you and saw the horror
You had been badly bitten
And the change was already upon you
The face I loved, I lips I kissed
Sneared and snarled, spit and hissed
Pulled back to show teeth sharp and long
The fury in your screams already growing strong
I cried softly as you tried to tear my throat
Holding you softly, not letting you go
Then at last I could no longer hold you back
Shoving you in the corner hard
It made you collapse
I brought the rifle up to my weeping eye
And begged god to forgive me one last time
For a second I saw you hesitate
A moment where you almost looked the same
Then it was gone and you were in full swing of the change
Closing my eyes I let the barrel blast
Without opening my eyes, I tuned the room and left
Now im damned and damned til death
I see only the beast, as it is all I have left
I seek it, and death, from place to place
I see only the beast, as it is all I have left
I seek it, and death, from place to place
The beast’s damned offspring, I wander and slay
The loathsome cousins of my beloved wife
So that I may sleep again, alone some night
