i love you, i just wish it were in a recognizable way.

in a small house in a small town on the edge of a murky swamp
a small girl with a curl in her hair was cursed to raise up
all around was her booze hound brothers and her father who wouldnt stop
pickin on the girl forgotten by the world, waitin for fate to come along

your mama was always crying but you never knew why
your daddy was always afraid that somebody would catch wise
every day theyre makin you pay so you go and sleep outside
to try and hide from a family of blame, to forget the wounded pride

we met at the gate and when i failed to speak i knew this was something different
you showed me the road, then we took a stroll, by the end of lovers lane we were kissing
the car broke down as we drove out of town, but the old man showed us mercy
we were movin again, steady to the end, lost sight of the road, we were missing

the snow falls down, lands without a sound like the hair of angel kisses
our breathe, hot and wet. for a second live, halts then it freezes
disease meets desire, air meets the fire. exciting new avenues of feeling
then lovers we left, your locket i kept, a fires time is fleeting
